The Struggles Are Real

Ever feel like the world is out to get you or things are just not going your way? Your in a slump, a funk or just out of your groove? Your just not happy and you are questioning what you are doing in certain aspects of your life or maybe even everything?

That’s how I am feeling at the moment. After spending the summer getting my garage gym built and winterized the darn heater died. So I had to spend a bunch of money right before Christmas to replace the heater and I ended up missing a week of training due to having no heat. Then this week its been a struggle getting back into the swing of things after missing a week of training. I’m feeling tired and really not enjoying the high rep sessions and I’m wishing I could just go back to training with lower reps but why hire a coach if you are not going to follow the program? Then to top it all off everyone at the office decided, hey lets get together after work for a few drinks on Friday and I had to say no because I needed to get my training in.

Dealing with any one of these issues on its own would not be a problem but when it all seems to pile on like this it can really get you down and feeling sorry for yourself. I think we all struggle at times but its how you deal with it that really determines a lot about yourself. When I hit tough times like this I find it helpful to remember the WHY? I think if your why is big enough, you will push through and stay the course, if not then you will take the easy route and quit. Most people quit, that’s why they say “If it was easy everyone would do it.” Anyone can do easy, it takes no effort, no commitment, no sacrifice and in the end does not really reward you with anything worth while.

Many parents say they don’t want their children to struggle like they did, forgetting it was going through their struggles that made them the person they are today. By taking away the struggle you take away the reward of victory and the feeling of accomplishment that comes from pushing through when things got tough and you did not quit.

So yeah things are kind of sucking right now but I know it won’t always be like this, I just need to keep focused on my “why” and push through.
